This is the third fire pit of this type I have bought and that is because we use it so much we burn them out. We would prbably get more life out of it if covered it up between burns but we don`t. We like it when the flames are licking out of the top. We also have built up the fire area to allow the heat to radiate out at a decent height. We are never without one as we always have spare in he garage to take over when we reach breaking point on the current one. A great product and I haven`t seen one of the same size and height. The height is crucial to get enough wood in to burn. Old furniture from the local recycle point is the best as it doesn`t spark and it gives off great heat. The wire mesh sides are essential if your burning cheap wood like pallets as these spark alot and you need to wear old clothes as you inevitably end up with burn holes in your clothes. All in all a great product for sitting round and having a few drinks. Especially in winter on a clear windless night.
